First cyborg?

Elon Musk's Neuralink has implanted its first brain chip in a human patient. In a tweet, Musk said the surgery was a success and the patient is recovering well, with initial results showing "promising neuron spike detection."

Neuralink hopes to create brain-computer interfaces that will help paralyzed people control devices with their thoughts.

Use custom GPTs

Paid ChatGPT users can now directly "tag in" GPTs during conversations. This will allow GPTs to have the full context of the discussion. The goal is to increase the adoption of GPTs.

OpenAI reviews GPTs using human and automated methods but offensive applications were initially listed. OpenAI plans to introduce monetization options to allow GPT developers to charge for their creations.

AI in the New York Times

The New York Times is building a team to explore AI in its newsroom, while still having journalists write, edit and report the news.

The team will prototype ideas and partner with other teams to help with reporting and how they present information to readers. It will include engineers, designers, and editors, led by a new editorial director for AI initiatives.
