There is a lot of ground to cover but as usual, we’re here to simplify and share the updates with you 🫶

💌 Generative AI Girlfriend

Read time: 3 mins - (link)

  • Key update: Caryn Marjorie is an influencer who created an AI clone of herself that can have 2-way audio chats with her fans. This clone, called CarynAI, is powered by GPT-4. The startup Forever Voices AI is behind this development and has also created AI clones of Steve Jobs and Taylor Swift.

  • Why we should care: AI clones like CarynAI are revolutionizing human-machine interactions. Fans can now engage in personalized conversations with their favorite influencer through this AI chatbot. CarynAI charges $1 per minute for chats, and in the first week alone, she earned $72,000. This innovative concept has the potential to address feelings of loneliness (an increasing problem for younger folks) and offers a glimpse into the future of AI companionship. As AI continues to advance, we may witness a rise in virtual influencers and a broader range of AI companions in various roles, such as dating, personal training, or tutoring.

TOGETHER WITH NOTION

Juggling a bunch of projects is hard. Notes in Google Docs. Tasks in another app. There’s no communication between these apps (or your team).

💥 Then I finally got to try Notion Projects.

Notion is a powerful project management solution that seamlessly integrates with your docs, notes, and wikis. It helps my team move much faster as everything is in one place.

One of my favorite use cases lately:

It can automatically scan your docs (using AI) and provide actionable to-dos. Bonus: it’ll update them when you change the details in the doc too. How cool! Check it out below:

AI Doomerism Is a Decoy?

Read time: 9 mins - (link)

  • Key update: The recent concerns raised by AI executives about the potential risks of superintelligent machines and the need for limited regulation may seem self-serving and exaggerated. However, it's important to understand why we should care about AI's current harms and the proposed regulations.

  • Why we should care: AI technology, despite its promises, already poses real risks to individuals and society. Discrimination, biased algorithms, copyright infringement, and other harmful consequences are already present. It's crucial to address these issues and ensure that AI is transparent, accountable, and aligned with our values of fairness and justice. By implementing appropriate regulations, we can protect ourselves from the potential negative impacts of AI and ensure its responsible development. It's essential to prioritize the well-being and rights of individuals over the profit-driven interests of AI companies.

🎑 Who Is Liable For AI Creations?

Read time: 2 mins - (link)

  • Key update: There is an ongoing debate about who should be held responsible for harmful content on the internet, especially when it's created by AI tools like ChatGPT. A law called Section 230 protects online platforms from being sued for content created by their users, but it doesn't clearly cover AI creations. The distinction between content creation and information sharing is getting harder to make as AI tools become more advanced.

  • Why we should care: The use of AI tools raises concerns about who should be held accountable for what they create. While some situations involving harmful or false content might be straightforward, many won't, which creates a risk in terms of legal responsibility. It's important to find a balance between protecting online platforms and encouraging the development of new technologies. Giving immunity to people who create these tools is crucial to fully explore the potential of AI, but it's also necessary to have thoughtful discussions about liability to address the challenges posed by future tech advancements.
