Meta is building a 5 gigawatt AI data center
Mark Zuckerberg told staff that Meta will break ground on a single campus with five gigawatts of capacity, roughly the load of three nuclear reactors. The site will host next-gen Meta Llama models, voice clones from PlayAI, and future mixed-reality workloads. Meta plans to secure long-term renewable contracts to power the facility.

Cognition acquires Windsurf video-AI startup
Cognition, the team behind Devin—the autonomous coding agent—bought Windsurf and its temporal-attention models that summarise long videos. Windsurf’s patents will slot into Devin’s toolset so the agent can watch tutorials and code along. The deal price wasn’t disclosed, but Windsurf will shut down its standalone service and open-source its leftover code.

Grok is testing always-on AI companions
xAI rolled out “Grok Companions,” opt-in personalities that chat proactively, remember long-term user context, and even join Discord servers. One early demo features a goth anime girl who offers sarcastic news recaps. Musk says enterprise-safe versions will follow.
Think beyond customer support: Proactive companions could nudge users back into your product without paid ads. But brand teams need guardrails before an edgy persona represents you in public channels.
