Key Findings: High Expectations and Tactical Focus

• Broad Impact Anticipated: 79% of respondents expect Gen AI to drive substantial organizational change in less than three years.

• Current Focus on Efficiency: Despite the transformative potential, the present focus is on tactical benefits like efficiency improvement and cost reduction.

• Expertise in Gen AI: More than 40% of respondents believe they possess high or very high expertise in Gen AI, with a small fraction (9%) reporting very high expertise levels.

Challenges in Gen AI Adoption: Talent, Governance, and Risk

• Talent and Skill Shortage: The most significant barrier to Gen AI adoption cited is the lack of technical talent and skills.

• Governance and Risk Preparedness: Only 25% of leaders feel highly prepared to address governance and risk issues, underscoring concerns about result confidence, intellectual property, data misuse, regulatory compliance, and transparency.

• Educational Initiatives: Less than half (47%) of organizations believe they adequately educate their employees about Gen AI's capabilities and benefits.

Societal Concerns and Future Prospects

• Economic Inequality Concerns: Over half of the respondents are worried that the widespread use of Gen AI might lead to increased economic inequality and a concentration of power in the global economy.

• The Need for Regulation and Collaboration: There is a strong consensus on the need for more global regulation (78%) and collaboration (72%) to manage Gen AI's responsible adoption.
