NEWS UPDATES
Perplexity Bids $34.5B for Google Chrome
Perplexity sent an unsolicited $34.5B offer to buy Google Chrome, saying financiers would back the deal and promising billions in investment for Chrome and Chromium. Google has not indicated any willingness to sell, and the move remains unlikely to close.
Still, it signals aggressive distribution ambitions by AI-first browsers. If your growth depends on search and browsers, keep contingency plans for rapid distribution shifts.
Anthropic Offers Claude to U.S. Government for $1
Anthropic will provide Claude to all three branches of the U.S. government for $1 for one year, including a FedRAMP High offering and multicloud access via AWS and Google Cloud. The move follows OpenAI’s $1 executive-branch offer and aims to widen Claude’s federal footprint.
Expect faster procurement pilots and tighter security assurances out of the box. If you sell into public sector, plan integrations and data controls that meet FedRAMP High.
Claude Adds Search Across Past Chats
Anthropic rolled out a way to search your earlier conversations, making it easier to find prior answers and projects. The feature is designed to respect privacy preferences and help teams reuse past work rather than start from scratch.
Treat your chat history like living knowledge and standardize naming and tagging. This will cut duplicate requests and speed handoffs across teams.
