Deloitte, one of the largest professional services firms, added over 130,000 employees this year but also warned thousands of existing staff that their jobs may be at risk due to restructuring.
Deloitte is now using AI to evaluate staff skills and map how employees can shift to growing parts of the business, in order to moderate hiring and layoffs over time. The AI aims to better match staff skills with demand and avoid large fluctuations in hiring and layoffs.
OpenAI has announced a new "Preparedness Framework" to monitor and manage potential risks from increasingly powerful AI models. The framework outlines how OpenAI will track, evaluate, forecast and protect against catastrophic risks.
It uses data-driven evaluations and forecasts of AI capabilities and risks. OpenAI says the framework is dynamic and will be continually updated based on new data, feedback and research.
CaliExpress in Pasadena has become the world's first fully autonomous, AI-powered restaurant. It uses robots to make hamburgers and french fries, as well as AI to manage operations. Human employees will still be present to package food and interact with customers.
The restaurant is a collaboration between Miso Robotics, a company that develops robotic solutions for restaurants, and PopID, a company that specializes in automated ordering technologies.
