Google’s 300% salary hike

Google once offered a 300% salary increase to an employee who was planning to switch jobs and join the AI startup Perplexity AI. Aravind Srinivas, the CEO of Perplexity AI, shared this instance.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai had warned employees last month about more job cuts to come.

Nvidia’s competitor in England

British AI chipmaker Graphcore is considering a sale to foreign owners like Arm, SoftBank or OpenAI due to heavy losses and struggling to sell its intelligence processing units which compete with Nvidia's GPUs.

Graphcore has raised over $700 million from investors but was valued at $2.8 billion in 2020. In 2022, its loss increased to $204.6 million while revenue fell from $5 million to $2.7 million.

Anthropic’s way to prevent election misinformation

Anthropic is developing a system called Prompt Shield to detect when users of its chatbot Claude ask about political topics or elections. It will redirect those users to authoritative sources for voting information like TurboVote to prevent misinformation.

Other AI companies are taking similar steps to avoid their systems being used to mislead voters.
