Google’s AI tools for retailers

Google Cloud has announced new Generative AI products to help retailers personalize online shopping. The announcement was timed with a major retail industry conference.

This includes a conversational agent that can have natural language discussions with shoppers and tools to automatically generate product descriptions, metadata, and images from existing data.

Nvidia’s AI GPUs

Nvidia announced new RTX SUPER GPUs that will bring generative AI capabilities to millions of laptops and PCs. They allow popular generative models like Stable Diffusion XL to run locally.

Nvidia said this will make generative AI more private, responsive and affordable. The company also announced new AI software like Nvidia AI Workbench for developers.

OpenAI’s updated policy

OpenAI has updated its usage policy to remove previous language prohibiting the use of its technologies for "military and warfare" purposes.

This represents a substantive change that opens the door to potential military applications and customers. OpenAI confirmed the policy change but did not deny that it is now open to military use.
