🚨 Japan’s AI Security Cameras
Key update:
Japan wants to test AI-equipped security cameras to protect VIPs.
What they could do:
Facial recognition - identifies a person
Object detection - spots suspicious items
Behavior detection - analyze a person's unusual movements
Japan's Police Agency will test these cameras before March 2024.
Why we should care:
As functional as it may sound, it comes with privacy concerns.
That's why the EU has restricted facial recognition in public places in the draft of AI regulations.
In ideal conditions, this tech can reduce the crime rate significantly.
