THE BIG UPDATE

🤼‍♂️ Meta’s New AI Competes With OpenAI

The Information

Key Updates:

  • Meta will release a rival AI code generator to compete with OpenAI and Google.

  • The new AI called "Code Llama" can:

    1. Help developers write better code

    2. Provide code suggestions as they type

  • The best part is this AI will be open-source, and available for free online.

Why We Should Care:

  • This AI can accelerate the coding process, reduce errors, and is a time saver.

  • Meta's open-source approach may force competitors to release more free AIs or affordable powerful AIs.

  • I was talking to a friend yesterday about how there’s no clear winner yet.

  • In 2000, when Google Search had only a 15% market share, Yahoo and MSN were further at 21% and 17% respectively.

Today, Google has a 77% search engine market share.

  • Similarly, there’s still a lot of opportunity in the AI world for OpenAI and also companies that are competing with OpenAI.

  • This AI game is decades long. Decades.
