🗞️ News

Microsoft’s $3 billion investment

Microsoft is planning to invest €3.2 billion ($3.4 billion) over the next two years to expand its AI infrastructure in Germany.

The investments will expand Microsoft's data processing centers in the region to support the growing demand for AI technologies from German companies.

OpenAI’s video-generating AI

OpenAI unveiled Sora, a new AI model that can generate videos from text descriptions or still images. Sora can generate 1080p videos up to a minute long with multiple characters and backgrounds. It can extend existing video clips by filling in missing details.

OpenAI is working with experts to evaluate Sora for potential exploits before developing it into a public-facing product.

OpenAI doesn’t own “GPT”

OpenAI applied for a trademark on the term "GPT" but was denied by the US Patent and Trademark Office. GPT stands for "generative pre-trained transformer" and describes the type of AI model used in ChatGPT and other systems.

While OpenAI popularized the term, the patent office said GPT was already in use by other companies for similar concepts.
