Nvidia’s $700M purchase

Nvidia has announced it will acquire the AI infrastructure company Run:ai for an estimated $700 million. Run:ai has been a close collaborator with Nvidia since 2020, and the two companies share a passion for helping customers optimize their AI computing infrastructure.

Run:ai has developed a Kubernetes-based platform that efficiently pools and shares GPU resources for AI workloads.

Apple’s open source AI

Apple has released a set of open-source large language models called OpenELM that are designed to run directly on devices like iPhones and iPads.

These on-device AI models are aimed at improving privacy and efficiency compared to cloud-based approaches. Apple is providing the complete training framework, including code, logs, and multiple model checkpoints

Meta’s AI efforts

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors that it will take the company several years to make money from its generative AI efforts, even though the initial signs are "quite positive."

Zuckerberg said building the leading AI assistant will be a "larger undertaking" than previous product launches like Stories and Reels.
