🗞️ News

OpenAI’s plans for India

OpenAI is working with former Twitter India head Rishi Jaitly as a senior advisor to help them establish connections and navigate policy issues in India.

Jaitly has been advising OpenAI on how to set up local teams and facilitate discussions with the Indian government about AI policy. OpenAI does not currently have an official presence in India but is interested in the large market opportunities there.

EU reaches provisional agreement on AI Act

The EU has reached a provisional agreement on landmark AI regulation. The proposed AI Act would establish the world's first comprehensive legal framework for AI.

It aims to distinguish what counts as AI and standardize rules across EU nations. The Act prohibits certain high-risk AI uses and requires transparency for other systems. The deal still requires further approval but could take effect in 2025.

Apple’s silent AI announcement

Apple announced a new AI framework called MLX which is designed to run efficiently on Apple Silicon chips in MacBooks and other Apple devices. MLX will allow developers to build ML models that can take advantage of Apple's powerful processors.

This could enable new generative AI applications to be developed for MacBooks in the future.
