NEWS UPDATES
Palo Alto Networks has acquired Protect AI, a Seattle-based startup focused on securing AI systems. The $500M+ deal strengthens Palo Alto’s AI-native security platform, addressing AI-specific risks like model manipulation and data poisoning. This acquisition reflects the rising importance of AI security as enterprises face increasing threats. AI security is a growing market, expected to reach $135B by 2030, making this a strategic move.
Google confirmed in court it can train AI used in Search on web content even if publishers opt out - unless they block search indexing via robots.txt. This means AI overviews may pull from sites not intended for AI training. Content owners face reduced traffic while still feeding Google's AI. Watch for growing pressure to change opt-out standards.
Visa plans to let AI agents shop and pay using your credit card. The company announced partnerships with OpenAI, Microsoft, and others to launch “Visa Intelligent Commerce,” aiming to automate everyday purchases through secure, tokenized credentials. This move could shift how people buy online and raises new questions about privacy, control, and AI reliability in financial decisions.
