🐦 Twitter’s New Rules!
Key update:
Twitter is a major source of data for companies to scrape and use while training their AI models.
These companies create 100s of accounts to gather a larger amount of data.
Elon Musk has said that the excessive scraping of data by these companies is negatively impacting the user experience.
To solve the issue, these changes were made:
1. Verified users can see 6000 tweets per day (max).
2. Unverified users can see 600 tweets per day (max).
3. "New" unverified users can see 300 tweets per day (max).
After just one day, Elon announced that these numbers will soon increase to 8,000, 800, and 400 respectively.
Why we should care:
These limitations directly affect Twitter ads. The number of ad spots will be limited, which may increase the cost per mille (CPM).
Training new AI models that rely on Twitter data will be more difficult and expensive.
Also, researchers will have less Twitter data to study social media trends and behavior.
