Intel’s new AI hardware
Intel has announced a new AI chip called Gaudi3, aiming to take on Nvidia and AMD in the booming market for AI hardware. Gaudi3 will target generative AI software like ChatGPT, which is currently dominated by Nvidia's chips.
Intel also announced new Core Ultra laptop/PC chips and 5th generation Xeon server chips containing neural processing units (NPUs) to accelerate AI tasks.
Pope’s concern about AI
Pope Francis has called for a legally binding global treaty to regulate AI and ensure proper oversight of AI systems. He is concerned that without proper regulation, AI could be used in ways that overshadow human values and decision-making.
The Pope made this call in his annual World Day of Peace message. He particularly warned against military applications of AI and called for a ban on lethal autonomous weapons.
Instagram’s AI Stories
Instagram has introduced a new AI-powered tool called "backdrop" that allows users to change the backgrounds of their Instagram Stories using images generated by AI. The tool is integrated into the Instagram Stories interface and lets users describe the type of background they want.
