Researchers at Stanford and the University of Washington have developed an open-source AI called s1 that can rival cutting-edge models like OpenAI's o1 and DeepSeek's R1, all for under $50 in cloud computing costs. This was achieved through a process called distillation.

This work also highlights the potential for open-source AI to disrupt the AI landscape.

New Gemini’s

Google has released new versions of Gemini AI models. The Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite model is a more affordable option that still performs well. The Gemini 2.0 Pro model has more advanced features, like the ability to connect to Google's other products like Search and Maps.

This could give Google a potential advantage over competitors like DeepSeek and OpenAI.

Alexa Upgraded

Amazon is reportedly preparing to release a next-generation version of its Alexa smart assistant. This upgraded Alexa can respond to multiple commands in sequence, rather than just handling one request at a time like the current Alexa.
