President Trump Repeals Biden’s AI Order

President Trump repealed an executive order made by former President Biden. Biden's order required companies to report safety test results to the government before releasing their systems to the public. However, Trump argued that these reporting requirements were overly burdensome and forced companies to disclose trade secrets.

OpenAI’s Performance at 95% Less Cost

DeepSeek has created a new open-source AI model called DeepSeek-R1 that can match the performance of OpenAI’s o1. Interestingly, DeepSeek-R1 can do this while costing 90-95% less than the OpenAI model. DeepSeek trained their model using a mix of reinforcement learning, which involves a trial and error process to get it to be as capable.

UK Government’s AI Tools

The UK government is developing a new suite of AI tools called "Humphrey" to help civil servants. The tools include an AI system that can summarize public feedback, a chatbot to provide information on government policies, AI to take notes in meetings, tools to help write summaries and briefings, and an AI research assistant to understand laws.
