Rumors about GPT-4.5

Rumors suggest that OpenAI may release an updated version of their GPT language model called GPT-4.5 in December 2023, to compete with Google's recently announced Gemini model.

A leaked screenshot purported specifications for GPT-4.5 including support for text, images, audio, video and 3D, as well as complex reasoning, but OpenAI's CEO said this was fake.

Apple open-sourced its AI framework

Apple has open-sourced its new ML framework called MLX which is optimized for Apple Silicon chips like the M1. It supports popular ML tasks like language modelling, image generation, and speech recognition through examples.

Early benchmarks show MLX achieving higher throughput than Meta’s Pytorch for some models on Apple Silicon due to its optimizations.

Microsoft’s research AI

Microsoft has introduced a new compact AI model called Phi-2. It is intended for research use and aims to achieve high performance on par with much larger models while being smaller in size.

Phi-2 outperforms larger open-source models in tasks like code generation and language understanding. It is available on Microsoft's Azure platform.
