{{first_name | Hey}}, welcome back.
This week’s launches that traveled kept the moment a buyer would doubt, then answered it before anyone could reply. The one that hid every doubt got panned.
Dessa’s slip is what full duplex looks like
Block made its proof out of a mistake. A scripted demo can’t prove a model listens. Its site sells Dessa, a speech-to-speech voice model, as full duplex, “so it listens and talks at the same time, like you do,” and only a live stumble can prove that. Two seconds into the 3:26 demo that lab lead Ragavan Thurairatnam posted on Oct 23, Dessa asks “Yeah, how you doing, Ronaldo?” The man says “I’m Dvir, man. I’m not Ronaldo,” and Dessa answers “No, you’re not Ronaldo” without stopping.
When @dinglebarey replied “I can’t tell if it’s a real person or actually AI,” the slip did its job, making the model sound human. A previous edition found the same trade at HeyClicky, 15M views for arguing against itself. Block trained Dessa on a single NVIDIA GPU rack, TechCrunch reported, a cost line for budget owners.
Whop told its $200M raise as history
Whop sold its raise as the next step in the history of trade, with Apple in the frame. Boxer Jake Paul hosts the 44-second film. It’s archive footage plus one famous face. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs appears beside an iPhone under “ONWARD.” Apple’s 1997 ad used 17 icons and no products. A previous edition covered a cheaper Apple borrow, Duolingo hijacking its launch day.
Then it voiced the investor’s doubt first. CEO Steven Schwartz announced the $200M Series D on Oct 21 and wrote it as company history. Whop began “as a better way for us to sell sneaker bots,” in a market he put at $20,000 a day, and he voiced the dismissal himself, “Who cares, tiny market.” His answer was “there were actually 70,000 other markets exactly like that one,” and closed on “delivering everyone an income.”
Sequoia’s Doug Leone joins the board and Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke is “in our corner,” he wrote. A previous edition watched 27 rivals’ signatures carry a launch. Jake Paul drew the pushback. @debrokedotcom asked “How does Jake Paul have anything to do with whop e-commerce,” and no reply we read on Oct 27 disputed the history, so the celebrity soaked up the doubt.

UniqueHuman’s agent speaks first
UniqueHuman, which builds healthcare agents for chronic conditions, sold prevention by putting it on screen. Its agent Niq opens the film before user Leah says a word: “Morning Leah. Short night of sleep and the pressure’s dropping this afternoon. Last time that happened, you had a migraine by 4 p.m.” That answers the objection that agents only reply when asked. A previous edition saw Tavus’s video model pass for human, and Niq goes further by starting the talk.
It plays as a Jarvis for migraines, and the Apple exit makes it believable. Founder Praneeta Pujari launched it on Oct 20 with “I left @Apple to build healthcare that listens and acts early” and a mission “to end chronic suffering.” The risk is knowing when to stay quiet, as Swapna Kumar Panda asked: “how does UniqueHuman decide when a pattern is strong enough to reach out first?”

4 plays you can run on your next launch

Each play puts the doubt inside the launch first, and in B2B that is a sales demo that recovers live and an agent that flags renewal risk unasked.
🎬 Booking a launch shoot? Screen-shot and forward a colleague play 1.
The risk to plan for
Dessa never says it is a model. @TheRHNeutrino named the risk, “Shouldn’t safe AI be AI that lets folks know it is AI?” If your agent speaks, script its AI disclosure before filming.
Tools for running the plays
Syften: Keyword alerts that catch “is this AI?” replies on X within 15 minutes, for plays 1 and 3. X monitoring is an add-on.
Prelinger Archives: Public domain advertising and industrial films for a play 2 history cut.
Arcade: Interactive demos that let people experience your product, for play 4.
